thank-you.

The
Hon. Peter Foss QC, former Attorney-General
Malcolm McCusker
QC
Perth's most
eminent criminal defence lawyer has encouraged Andrew's supporters for several
years and will lead the legal team at the Court of Criminal Appeal hearings. Mr
McCusker has taken the case pro bono, offering his services because he
believes the case has strong merit and serious consequences for the West
Australian justice system. A veteran of some of Australia's most important
cases, including past and current appeals by brothers Ray and Peter Mickelberg,
Mr McCusker will provide Andrew with the best courtroom representation.
Dr. Jamie Edelman
As Mr McCusker's junior barrister, Dr Edelmen has worked tirelessly
on crucial elements of the legal case, not the least of which was the
polygraph evidence.
Clayton Utz
Barrister
Malcolm McCusker QC is being instructed by national legal firm Clayton
Utz. As one of Australia's largest law firms, Clayton Utz is investing the
time,
resources and legal expertise Andrew could never afford with Legal Aid.
Partner Paul Fitzpatrick and
Senior Associate Cynthia Sargent are leading a team of Perth lawyers as part
of the firm's national pro bono
program. Clayton Utz is
primarily a civil litigation firm but its senior partners saw such merit
in
Andrew's case, they agreed to take his criminal appeal for free. Clayton Utz
John Quigley MLA
Having worked as
a high-profile lawyer defending members of the police service union for more
than two decades, Quigley entered State Parliament in 2001 as the Labor Member
for Innaloo. While working in his electorate, mostly in his spare time and
during parliamentary breaks, Quigley used his legal skills to examine Andrew's
case. The high-profile MP played a huge driving role in the discovery of new
evidence and the granting of Andrew's appeal. He remains a committed consultant
to the legal and support teams.
Jacqui Mallard
Andrew's only
sibling has been his greatest supporter. A Publications coordinator with no
previous experience of the criminal justice system, Jacqui has been private
investigator, legal clerk, emotional rock and never-tiring lobbyist on behalf of
her younger brother. Jacqui is a font of knowledge on the case and remains an
invaluable resource for the legal team. She is supported by her loving and
ever-patient husband, Wayne, and mother Grace.
Colleen Egan
A journalist in
the Perth bureau of The Australian newspaper, Colleen first started researching
the Mallard case almost five years ago. Over the years, through her
investigations and experiences, she became convinced that Pamela Lawrence's
murder was not properly investigated or prosecuted, and that Andrew did not
receive a fair hearing in the courts. Colleen has assisted the Mallards by
investigating the case and bringing it to the attention of the legal team.
Partner Justin has provided invaluable support, uncontested kitchen space for
meetings and the occasional investigative tip.
Mark Ritter, SC
A barrister at
Wickham Chambers in Perth, Mr Ritter has continued to support Andrew and his
family since arguing the case at the first Supreme Court appeal in 1996. A busy
criminal and civil lawyer, Mr Ritter has donated hours and days of his time as a
key member of Andrew's support team. He strongly believes that Andrew has been
treated unjustly and was instrumental in the discovery of some fresh evidence.
Rob Devenish
A volunteer
chaplain at Casuarina Maximum Security Prison, Rob provides Andrew with moral
support and plays an important role as Andrew's soul upholder. Rob has dealt
with hundreds of prisoners and believes strongly in Andrew's innocence.
Louise
Perry & Alex Wilson
Both former
post-gradute journalism students at Murdoch University, Alex and Louise donated
their time and talents for several months to the Mallard investigation. They
spent hours poring over every document in Andrew's Legal Aid file and pursued
numerous leads. They have continued to support the team since moving to Sydney
in June 2002 - Louise as a cadet for The Australian newspaper and Alex working
for Rehame media.
Fair Trials Abroad Trust (FTA)
The Fair Trials Abroad Trust (FTA), a London based charity, seeks to help citizens
of the European Union accused of a crime in a country other than their own
to assert their rights to due administration of justice. For more than 10
years FTA has served EU citizens facing miscarriages of criminal justice
abroad. FTA has been representing Andrew Mallard in the UK and has been supporting
his efforts to grant him appeal. Andrew was prisoner of the month for the
FTA for January 2004.

Nick Baker
Gloucestershire man Nick
Baker is serving 14 years in a Japanese jail for drug offences he claims
he did not commit.
Nick Baker, 33, from Stroud, maintains he was tricked into carrying drugs
by a travelling companion.
Nick and Andrew have been corresponding to each other over the past few years,
keeping each others spirits up as best they can.
Nick's mother Iris has been his mainstay along with Fairtrials Abroad - check

Numerous other
kind and conscious people have assisted the Mallard team along the way ...
Thanks
to all of those who have sensed the injustice and been moved to help where
they can.
